Hey Reader, I believe the biggest problem facing the health and fitness industry isn't necessarily getting people to be "healthier" but its helping people to be more consistent with making exercise and other healthy behaviors a part of a daily habit. And this really all boils down to something really complex: Human behavior change. I just started a 13 week course diving deep into human psychology and behavior change as it relates to health & mindset. And believe it or not, this is something that is completely left out of medical school. Can you believe our most trusted doctors and providers who are loaded with clinical expertise and information have had ZERO education hours of how to help people go from intention to action. It is not enough to just tell people to exercise more or eat more fruits and veggies. Chances are that person won't follow through on that advice for the long haul. One of the biggest takeaways I have learned is that motivation & intention for change is not sufficient enough for it. Motivation is unreliable most of the time. And we often think the goal is the need to be motivated all of the time. But the goal really should be: how can we still be persistent in the face of low motivation? We are super aware at Be Resilient that most of these habits and behaviors will have to formed when life is less than optimal.
